As the number of tourists and air passengers traveling from Manthali Airport to Lukla, Solukhumbu, has been increasing daily, Manthali Airport in Ramechhap has observed a need for security up gradation. Therefore, an X-ray screening machine has been installed for security checks in Manthali Airport for the first time.
The purpose of installing the X-ray machine at Manthali Airport is to facilitate regular security checks.
In absence of the screening machine, both domestic and international travelers boarding flights were subject to thorough manual security checks, with all bags being inspected by security personnel. If any items were restricted for carriage on the aircraft, they were confiscated, and passengers’ bags were checked thoroughly.
After the installation of the machine in the district, there will be no need for manual checks, which will save time and avoid inconvenience for passengers, as stated by senior official Prajjwal Guragain of the Civil Aviation Authority of Ramechhap.
According to him, the said machine has been provided by the Civil Aviation Authority of Kathmandu to Ramechhap.
