Two killed in a Mid Air Collision between Passenger and Training aircraft in Kenya

According to sources, the aircraft struck each other above the park, resulting in the smaller plane crashing down.

Two individuals have tragically lost their lives in a mid-air collision involving a small Cessna 172 Skyhawk training aircraft and a larger De Havilland Canada Dash 8 passenger plane over Nairobi National Park.

According to sources, the aircraft struck each other above the park, resulting in the smaller plane crashing down. The larger Dash 8 aircraft, operated by Safarilink Aviation, was carrying 44 passengers and crew bound for Diani when it experienced a loud bang shortly after take-off from Wilson Airport, prompting its safe return.

Cessna 172 Skyhawk is 4 seated piston single engine aircraft mostly flown for training purposes while Dash 8 is a fully commercial multi engine turbo prop aircraft.

Nairobi County police commander Adamson Bungei confirmed the fatalities, stating that a student and a trainer aboard the training aircraft were among the victims.

According to Kenya’s Civil Aviation Authority, the collision occurred at 10:05 am local time.

The Incident is still under investigation.
