A routine training mission turned tragic as an Indian Coast Guard Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv crashed at the Coast Guard Air Enclave in Porbandar, Gujarat, resulting in the loss of three crew members.

The accident occurred during a training sortie at approximately 10:30 AM. The helicopter, an indigenously developed multi-role aircraft manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), went down shortly after takeoff. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the crash site, but unfortunately, all three personnel aboard succumbed to their injuries.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Preliminary reports suggest the possibility of a mechanical failure, though this has yet to be confirmed.

The Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv, widely used by various branches of India’s armed forces, has faced scrutiny in recent years due to multiple incidents involving the aircraft. This latest tragedy has reignited concerns about its safety and operational reliability.

The Indian Coast Guard expressed its deep condolences to the families of the deceased crew members, honoring their service and sacrifice. “We are committed to uncovering the cause of this incident to prevent future occurrences,” a senior official stated.
