Nepal has made an Air Service Agreement(ASA) with Switzerland to operate 28 flights a week, with 50% of flights departing from airports outside Kathmandu.
The long-standing aviation agreement with Switzerland has been completed.
According to Buddhisagar Lamichhane, Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation (MoCTA), and Chief of Civil Aviation Authority, both Nepal and Switzerland have reached a bilateral aviation agreement.
According to him, airlines from both countries can operate 28 flights a week under this agreement.
This includes 50% of flights departing from Tribhuvan International Airport and 50% departing from international airports outside Kathmandu.
Additionally, there is also a code-share agreement in place. A code-share agreement is a partnership between two or more airlines where they agree to share the same flight under their own airline designator codes. This means that one airline operates the flight, but it is marketed and sold by both airlines as if it were their own service. Passengers may purchase tickets from either airline, but they may end up flying on the same aircraft operated by one of the partnering airlines. Code-share agreements allow airlines to expand their route networks and offer more destinations to their passengers without having to operate additional flights themselves.
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has informed that Nepal has signed aviation agreements with 42 countries. The ministry has further informed that negotiations for aviation agreements are underway with other countries as well.
