Nepal Army aircraft repatriates the dead body of two martyrs of Balkumari Incident

The repatriation flight is being conducted by Ministry of Home affairs after the government has reached an agreement with the families of the deceased who lost their lives in the Balkumari incident.

The deceased bodies of two individuals Sujan Raut from Dailkeh and Birendra Shah from Achham are being repatriated with aircraft of Nepal Army back to their home from Kathmandu. The repatriation flight is being conducted by Ministry of Home affairs after the government has reached an agreement with the families of the deceased who lost their lives in the Balkumari incident.

According to the information provided, an aircraft took off from Kathmandu at 10:45 AM today with the dead bodies destined to Surkhet. From Surkhet a Nepal Army chopper will again fly the dead bodies in their respective resident districts Achham and Dailekh today.

After discussions between representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the deceased’s family on Monday, an agreement was reached on four points.

Last Friday, there was a clash between the police and those who had come to apply for exams at the EPS Korea branch in Ward 8 of Lalitpur Metropolitan City. Two individuals lost their lives when the police used force.

The deceased were Sujan Raut from Dailkeh and Birendra Shah from Achham. Deputy Secretary Umakant Adhikari had also signed the agreement on behalf of the government. Tek Bahadur Shah, the father of Birendra, and Tek Bahadur Katuwal, the uncle of Sujan, have also signed the agreement.

The government decided in a cabinet meeting to provide 1 million rupees to the families of the deceased. Additionally, a decision was made to provide employment to each member of the deceased’s family. An agreement has been reached between both parties for additional relief as well.

Both deceased individuals have been declared martyrs, and the families have agreed to allow the announcement for one and to conduct the last rites for the other in their respective districts. The agreement letter also mentions that the management related to bringing the bodies to the respective districts will be done by the Ministry of Home Affairs.”
