A Nepal Airlines’ wide-body aircraft ‘9N-ALY’ Annapurna, which was flying to Qatar with flight number RA 239, returned to Kathmandu not even crossing Nepal on air returned back to Kathmandu on the Thursday night.
After detecting a problem with the hydraulic system of the aircraft, which had 265 passengers on board, the aircraft had to return to Kathmandu cancelling the journey. The wide-body aircraft, which took off at midnight on Thursday, encountered issues with its hydraulic system, prompting the flight crew to return to Kathmandu.
According to Ramesh Poudel, spokesperson for the corporation, passengers were sent to Qatar on another flight the next morning. He also mentioned that the aircraft was undergoing repairs and was scheduled to depart for Delhi at 1:45 PM yesterday. However, the aircraft has not took off any where from its last diversion landing at Kathmandu.
The wide body aircraft Airbus A330 is also taking more time than anticipated to come back in the air after the incident. Although called by the authority as a minor technical problem that can be fixed within a day, the aircraft has not been able to be in the sky till Saturday.
The delay in the Delhi flight, which has been delayed for a long time, is due to the fact that the aircraft sent for repairs to Israel is also grounded, resulting in only one aircraft available for the Delhi flight.
