Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has officially commenced the operations from new heliport constructed at Nalinchwok, Bhaktapur District few miles east of Kathmandu International Airport.

The heliport has been constructed as an alternative to Kathmandu International Airport. It is capable of handling four helicopter take-offs and landings simultaneously and features 13 parking stands. Starting today, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has mandated each helicopter company to park at least one aircraft at the heliport.

The progress in this endeavor is underscored by the fact that testing flights have already been conducted approximately three months ago, validating the operational capabilities of the helipad. The entire project, which involved constructing the helipad, incurred a cost of NPR 11.9 million.

Encompassing an extensive area of 33 Ropanis, the helipad is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating helicopter services to various destinations in Nepal. The operation of this heliport will also ease congestion of hetereogenous traffic in TIA and facilitate development works as per the master plan.
