Chitwan leads in sending Nepalis abroad for Employment

In the fiscal year 2079/2080, a total of 771,327 individuals from Nepal have obtained labor approval, according to the data of the Department of Labor and Employment.

Chitwan ranks first for foreign employment in districts from where labor approvals for foreign employment were obtained. Among the 13 districts of Bagmati Province, this year, 15,823 individuals from Chitwan have obtained labor approval for foreign employment.

The coordinator of the Foreign Employment and Welfare Program, Surya Prasad Paudel, mentioned that the number of people going abroad for higher education from Chitwan to countries like Australia, America, and European countries like the UK has increased. He said, “It has become increasingly difficult to find opportunities without going abroad.”

According to him, in Bharatpur Metropolitan City alone, only 34,500 households have sent someone for foreign employment.

In the fiscal year 2079/2080, a total of 771,327 individuals from Nepal have obtained labor approval, according to the data of the Department of Labor and Employment. Among them, only 116,932 individuals from Bagmati Province have obtained labor approval.

Chitwan has the highest number of 15,823 individuals obtaining labor approval for foreign employment, followed by Dhanusha. The coordinator, Paudel, informed that Chitwan is the district with the highest number of people going for foreign employment after Dhanusha. In the previous fiscal year, 1,161 individuals were sent abroad from here.

Chitwan has the highest number of 56,161 individuals obtaining labor approval, followed by Bharatpur Metropolitan City, where 20,000, Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, where 1,108, Ratnanagar Municipality, where 1,471, Kalika Municipality, where 1,079, Khairahani Municipality, where 1,208, and Rapti Municipality, where 1,291 individuals have obtained labor approval.

There is an issue of fraud in foreign employment in Chitwan. A total of 136 complaints were filed at the District Administration Office in Chitwan. Among them, 60% of the individuals had submitted complaints by raising money fraudulently.

Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, which has been working to create employment within the country, stated, “The number of people going abroad illegally is also not less. The number going to India is particularly high.” He said, “We need to utilize our resources here, such as rivers, land, and forests, to produce in conjunction with the products available here. We are working towards this.” He also mentioned that foreign employment is a nationwide problem.
