CAAN preparing to facilitate 19 domestic airports with X-Ray screening machines

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has started to execute a project of installing X-Ray screening at 19 different domestic airports of the country. The X-Ray machines are used to screen the baggage of the passengers travelling to and from an airport. A lot of airport in the rural areas of Nepal lack these machines which is an important aid in security check.

The required machines have already been procured with all the necessary documentations. The procured machines will be installed in around a time of three months total as per the Director General of CAAN.

The airports like Lukla, Ramechhap, Simikot, Dolpa will get installed with these X-Ray machines. Previously these airports lacked the screening machines which was a security threat to the airport and the airline operators.

After the installation of the machines, it is believed that the airport security and safety will be enhanced and the airline operators will also get benefitted from it in terms of the Safety.

CAAN is also preparing to reform and upgrade the firefighting services in the airports of Bharatpur, SImara, Rajbiran and Tumlingtar in the next phase.

Airport X-ray machines play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of air travel by providing a non-invasive method of inspecting passengers’ carry-on items. These machines utilize X-ray technology to create detailed images of the contents of luggage, allowing security personnel to identify any potential threats or prohibited items. The scanning process is quick and efficient, helping to streamline the security screening process at airports and reduce the need for manual inspections. Advanced X-ray machines are equipped with automated detection algorithms that can highlight suspicious objects, such as weapons or explosive materials, aiding security personnel in making quick and informed decisions.

The design of airport X-ray machines prioritizes passenger privacy by producing images that reveal the contents of luggage rather than the detailed anatomy of individuals. Additionally, strict protocols and regulations are in place to ensure that the use of X-ray technology complies with privacy standards. To enhance security further, many airports also employ millimeter-wave scanners or other complementary technologies in conjunction with X-ray machines. As technology continues to advance, airport X-ray machines evolve to meet the evolving threats to aviation security, playing a vital role in safeguarding the well-being of passengers and maintaining the integrity of air travel systems worldwide.
