34 airports to have free Wi-Fi provided by Nepal Telecom

To facilitate passengers within airports, information and assistance desks will be established to provide information regarding company services at appropriate locations.

Nepal Telecom has decided to provide free Wi-Fi internet service at 34 airports operated within Nepal.

This decision has been agreed upon between Nepal Telecom and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) (on Friday). The international as well as domestic passenger will have ease of access from most of the airports in the country with this without any charge. This will add an convenience if communication for the travelers, specially for the international passengers who are not possessing a roaming or a Nepali sim card while landing in Nepal

The agreement letter has been signed by Vinata Shrestha, Chief Commercial Officer of Nepal Telecom, and Deputy Director General Jagannath Niroula from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.

According to the agreement, Nepal Telecom will install free Wi-Fi networks at arrival and departure lounges of Tribhuvan International Airport’s international and domestic terminals, as well as operate free Wi-Fi internet service in other airports operated within Nepal in a phased manner.

Furthermore, to facilitate passengers within airports, information and assistance desks will be established to provide information regarding company services at appropriate locations.

Necessary equipment for the operation and management of free Wi-Fi network services and other management tasks will be provided by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Additionally, charging stations for mobile phones, aimed at providing convenience to passengers, will also be made available by the authority.

Previously, agreement had been reached to operate free Wi-Fi services at Tribhuvan International Airport’s Customs Office, and now Nepal Telecom’s statement is that services will be available at all airport locations.
