Sita Air’s Dornier aircraft hits Station Manager in Rara Airport

A very unfortunate even occurred with a Sita Air Dornier Do-228 aircraft with registration ‘9N-AIE’ at Talcha Airport, Mugu around noon today. The aircraft hit a ground personnel with its engine running while it was about to taxi in to the runway of Talcha Airport for departure to Nepalgunj Airport.

The Dornier Do-228 aircraft belonging to Sita Air hit the station manager of Talcha Airport Mr. Dhirendra Bham by the forward nose section of the aircraft. The station manager has sustained major injuries in his hand and some injuries in his head too. It seems like some portion of his hands were hit by the rotating propellers of the aircraft during the strike.

The station manager had approached near the aircraft with its engines running after being signaled by the pilots from the cockpit. It is said that since the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) was not responding the pilots call for the request to Taxi Out, the pilots had signaled the Station Manager on the ground to tell the ATC about the request.

In the meantime, the Station Manager approached the aircraft and was hit suddenly. He has a major injury in his left hand an its fingers. He also has cut in his head and injured in other multiple parts of his body. The wounded Manager was rushed to Nepalgunj for the further treatment by the same flight of Sita Air immediately. The aircraft had landed 12:30 PM at the Nepalgunj Airport.

Rara Airport is situated at Chayanath Rara Municipality of Mugu District,Karnali Province. It is an important gateway to the largest lake of our country, Rara and Rara National Park. It is located about 2.5 hours walking distance from the Rara Lake.
