Significant increase in number of Air Travelers from TIA

Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) saw a total of 1,403,442 passengers traveling by air in January and February (only two first months) of the year 2024, .

According to the airport office, during these two months, there were 18,426 flights and landings at TIA. The number of international air travelers during this period was 786,665, while the number of domestic air travelers was 616,777.

In January 2024, 786,665 passengers traveled internationally through Kathmandu Airport, with 392,598 arrivals and 394,067 departures. From various destinations worldwide, 187,783 passengers arrived in Nepal, while 240,815 departed from Kathmandu.

Moreover, in February, there were more air travelers compared to January, with 394,667 passengers traveling internationally through TIA. Of these, 191,776 arrived from different countries, and 202,891 departed from Kathmandu.

Increase in Domestic Air Travel:

According to the airport office, there has been an increase in domestic air travel compared to January and February 2023.

In the two months of 2024, 616,777 passengers traveled domestically through Kathmandu Airport. This is a rise from the 593,964 passengers who traveled domestically in the same period in 2023, marking a 12.45% increase.

In January 2024, 282,830 passengers traveled domestically, and in February, 333,947 passengers traveled within Nepal. This is compared to 259,986 passengers in January and 279,978 passengers in February of 2023.
