Qatar Airways Airbus A330 go around in Kathmandu - Aviation in Nepal

A Qatar Airways has commenced missed approach during landing at Kathmandu that was scheduled to land at 4:45 PM today. The flight was en route to Kathmandu from Doha that had to make a vast changes in its flight track during the approach in Kathmandu. And finally before touching down Kathmandu it overshot the runway because of the stormy weather of Kathmandu.

The aircraft altered its track towards west from the normal approach track of landing in Kathmandu. The aircraft when approached near the runway made an unstable approach due to the gusty winds in the Kathmandu. The Airbus A330-300 ‘A7-AEO’ aircraft because of this unstable approach made a go around from 500 feet above the runway.

The aircraft is presently on hold over Simara airport VOR and will initiate a re approach once cleared by Air Traffic Controller (ATC). The storm in Kathmandu right now has dissipated and there’s no doubt it will make a successful landing at the airport after re initiating the approach.
