Pokhara coined as ‘Tourism Capital’ officially

Although 14 months have passed since the operation of Pokhara International Airport, regular international flights have not yet started.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal declared Pokhara as the Tourism Capital on Sunday and expressed his commitment to operate regular international flights himself. He has stated that he will put focus on initiating regular flights from Pokhara International Airport very soon.

“I have put in a lot of effort in the construction of the international airport in Pokhara. Now, I have taken a new initiative to manage the operation expenses of regular international flights and airport operation in a new way,” he said.

Although 14 months have passed since the operation of Pokhara International Airport, regular international flights have not yet started. The Prime Minister did not reveal which airline he is in talks with for regular flights.

He said, “We all have to play a role in establishing Pokhara as a unique tourist destination in the world.” Gandaki Province government and Pokhara Metropolitan City have declared Pokhara as the tourist capital.

Mayor Dhanraj Acharya has made the Pokhara improvement plan public. According to him, the main market area of Pokhara will be open 24 hours from today.

He expressed his statement to implement traffic improvement plans within an hour. He said that on the occasion of the first day of the new year 2081, they will start operating a Shuttle Bus Service from Pokhara International Airport to Prithvi Chwok.
