Two of the four Airbus of Nepal Airlines Corporation have been grounded due to technical problems. This has affected the journey of hundreds of passengers. Ramesh Paudel, spokesperson of the corporation, informed that the flight of the corporation’s registration number 9N-ALZ, an Airbus A330 series widebody, had to be stopped due to a problem with the flight control sensor.

“The flight of this aircraft which was supposed to fly to Doha was stopped last night, we are making preparations to take the stranded passengers to Doha on the flight at 7:45 p.m. today,” he said.

A narrow body aircraft of the corporation has been sent to Israel for repair. This aircraft, which has been grounded in Nepal for more than a month, was not able to arrange for the repair in time, so the corporation’s international flight was reduced to two aircrafts.

According to spokesperson Paudel, the repair work of the aircraft which was grounded last night is continuing. “There is an effort to make it airworthy today,” he said, “if that can be done, the scheduled flights will not be affected.” The corporation now has only one widebody and one narrowbody aircraft in an airworthy condition.

On the Doha flight, 276 passengers, who were preparing to fly from Kathmandu, had to be kept in hotels at night. Spokesperson Paudel said that they are ready to be flown today.
