Akasha Airlines, the Indian airline that caused a stir in the aviation market by ordering more than 150 aircraft within two years of its operation, is set to commence international flights.

Akasha has announced plans to operate flights from Mumbai, India’s financial capital, to Doha starting from March 28th. The airline had previously announced plans to operate flights from various cities in India to various cities around the world, just 19 months after starting domestic flights.

Renowned investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has established Akasha Airlines, which has rapidly expanded its presence in the aviation market.

Just a few months ago, the airline had ordered 150 aircraft within a short period of time. This progress in aircraft orders within a short span of establishment is another record in the aviation market.

Akasha, which already had 24 Boeing 737 aircraft, had ordered a total of 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft some time ago. The airline had ordered both the larger and medium variants of the MAX, with orders for 10 MAX 10 and 8 MAX 8 aircraft.

Within 17 months of operation, Akasha has aggressively expanded its presence in the Indian aviation market by ordering more than two hundred aircraft. Now, they are set to debut in the international aviation market.

Within just 19 months of establishment, Akasha has been serving over 7 million passengers on flights to various 21 cities in India.

Preparing for international flights from March onwards, Akasha has taken a strategy to strengthen regional flight networks. With an aim to cater to passengers traveling from Indian airports to western countries, the airline is expanding its flight operations.

The Indian government is also preparing to establish New Delhi as an international flight hub. A strategy has been devised to connect regional destinations with New Delhi and then to western destinations. Following the same governmental goal, Akasha has also planned to expand its own flight network.
